Inhaling Essential Oils

This usually means using a diffuser machine, which turns water and 3 to 6 drop of essential oil into vapor we inhale, and the receptors in our nose use the compounds that make up the essential oil to promote wellness.

But essential oils can also inhaled by diluting them in witch hazel or water and misted throughout the air or on surfaces like your pillow. This is particularly great for oils that cleanse and purify surfaces!

Lastly, applying a drop in your hands and holding them together under your nose while deep breathingis another great way to inhale those volatile compounds and to take a moment to yourself. Essential oils can also be diffused on cotton balls or even on leather or wooden jewelry!

Applying Essential Oils

Topically applying a drop of essential oils to your skin is the easiest and quickest way to benefit from essential oils. Popular places to apply are:
  • on the back of your neck
  • behind the ears
  • over your heart
  • the bottoms of your feet
  • across your abdomen (for stomach upset)
  • along your hairline (for occasional head tension)
You could also apply essential oils topically by diluting them in your bath water, or in coconut oil to massage the skin, in a warm compress (achy feelings) or misted on the skin. There are SO many places to apply them on the skin depending on what your needs are in the moment.

Ingestion Essential Oils

Before I go any further, I have to prompt you to do your own research on ingesting essential oils because there is much debate whether they are safe or not to ingest. But I have read this article, and agree that certain oils are safe to ingest in moderation. They could be added to your beverage or in your favorite recipes!

There are a few things to keep in mind, if you are unsure, always dilute with coconut oil. Dilute essential oils with coconut oil or another oil when using on children or if you have sensitive skin! Avoid putting oils in your eyes, and be sure to wash your hands so you don't rub your eyes!
There you have it! Lots of new ways to use your essential oils. If you would like to get oils, here is where you can get them!
